Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2021 Subaru Crosstrek- Video

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look and installing the Blue Ox Base Plate on a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. Now there five required components when flat towing a vehicle. The first one starting on the vehicle side is going to be the base plate. The base plate attaches to the frame of the vehicle and that's gonna allow for all your connection points for your other components. Now, going along with that, you see our tow bar here is actually attached to that base plate, and that's gonna make that connection between the vehicle and the RV. more

But, before we do that, why don't we check it out and make sure that this is something that's going to work for you So before we start, actually checking out the base plate and really going over that, I figured it'd be useful just to refresh ourselves on the main components that we're going to need to flat tow our Subaru down the road in the first place. Today on our 2009 Subaru Forester, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms, part number BX3616. So here's what the base plate is going to look like once we have it installed on our Forester. This is going to serve as the attachment point for our tow bar to hook directly up to our Subaru. Now, this is going to distribute that weight across the front of the vehicle a lot better, taking some of that excess weight off of the front suspension. Now, whenever we're not towing, we're going to be able to easily remove these arms here. You can simply pull on the pin, rotate it, and we can pull it out and installing them is just as easy. more

Now, keep in mind our Base Plate is only one of the components that we need to safely flat tow our Subaru.Here's what our base plate is going to look like. The main purpose is it's going to serve as a connection point between our Subaru and our motor home so we can get down the road safely. One of the best parts about this base plate is it does have removable arms. We pull out on this lever, turn, we can pull the arm out, and as you can see, it's going to hide really well and we're not going to have anything distracting on the front of our Subaru.One of the best parts about this base plate is the fact that the arms are removable. We can pull on this pin, rotate the arm, and then we can remove it. more

Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Subaru Forester- Video

Today on our 2016 Subaru Forester, we're going to be taking a look at installing the Road Master Easy 4 Base Plate kit with removable arms. Part number RM-52923-4. Here's what it's going to look like once it's installed. As you can see it's going to fit inside of our fascia, very nice. The only thing that's going to protrude is going to be our breakaway switch that we've added and our six pole connector. Now these are not included with your kit. Both go with our breaking system that we're going to install. more
